Evaluating Symptoms of Breast Cancer

A mammogram is a specific low-dose x-ray of the breasts used for both males and females. These images are taken on machines dedicated to the breasts. The radiographers operating the machine and taking the images is specially trained in the area. A mammogram is widely used to evaluate symptoms or for people with a family history of breast cancer. Mammograms are often performed in conjunction with a breast ultrasound.

All the mammography staff at Bendigo Radiology are female and are Clinical Proficiency in Mammography (CCPM) certified. We also participate in the Mammography Quality Assurance Program (MQAP) to ensure all equipment is functioning optimally and meets the National Accreditation Standards.
